10 Sustainable Startups pitch for £10,000

Startup Discovery School (in partnership with OneTech and Lambeth) host a Community Pitch Event in which 10 sustainability-centred startups pitched for one of three grants to help progress their business to the next stage.

Earlier this month, Startup Discovery School (in partnership with OneTech and Lambeth) organised a Community Pitch Event in which 10 sustainability-centred startups pitched for one of three grants to help progress their business to the next stage.

In the calm setting of Impact Brixton, 10 startups gathered to pitch their venture to a panel of judges included Mandy Nyarko (Founder of Startup Discovery School), Connor Brooks (VP at Silicon Valley Bank) and Julie Blane (Net-Zero Angel Investor).

With just 5 minutes, founders were tasked to show how their products and services will contribute to a greener, more eco-friendly society.  Plus, they had to outline how the prize money would help their business get to next stage of development. 10 great startups. 3 prizes at stake. The judging panel had tough job deliberating on who to award. In the end, 3 SMEs took away a grand total of £10000:

InUse ReUse - 1st place

A recycling and up-cycling business, specialising in house clearance, repurposing preloved furniture, up-cycling reclaimed materials, making an impact in the local community.

PropUp Project - 2nd place

Rehoming, recycling and reusing props that are discarded and abandoned from TV productions

Personalised sustainable fashion makers that connect you with tailors to help repair, alter and create personalised garments.

A building service and low carbon consultancy driving change within the construction industry.

Innovative and sustainable garment hangers resolving issues with transporting garments, landfill waste and stretching of fabrics.
